Building better collaboration; Alesi and Pilirani's journey

For years, the end of harvest season in Kamtalala Village was not a time for celebration for Alesi Longwe and her husband, Pilirani Nkhoma. Alesi reached out to the Khosolo Women's Forum for support on how to manage the power relations within her marriage. The dialogue and paralegal sessions that followed focused on communication, joint financial planning and mutual respect and equality and the most recent harvest has been better planned, with the MK2.1million earned being reinvested to improve their family home and future yields.

Through the support of Khosolo Women Forum couples reflect on how to ensure that gender equality is not just a concept but is practical, powerful, and life-changing.

"Things are better now,” Alesi says with a smile. “We talk. We agree. Our children are happy.”
